Article schema: author and datePublished check

Group C2 pointsrubric r1

We look for Article, NewsArticle, BlogPosting or TechArticle nodes in the JSON-LD of the scanned page and check for author and datePublished.

Why it matters

Agents deciding between sources prefer a dated article with a named author, and discard undated text that might be years old. Missing fields mean the agent cannot tell how current the page is. One point is for author and one for datePublished; a page with no Article markup scores 0 here. The check reads the JSON-LD only, so microdata or RDFa authorship is not counted.

How to fix it

  1. Add an Article or BlogPosting object to each post page.
  2. Set "author": {"@type": "Person", "name": "Jane Doe"}.
  3. Set "datePublished": "2026-03-14" in ISO 8601 format.
  4. Add dateModified when you update the post.

How to verify

Re-scan an article URL; the evidence reads author=true datePublished=true.
