About and contact page checker

Group E2 pointsrubric r1

We follow homepage links whose path or text mentions about, company or contact, falling back to /about and /contact, and check that each returns a 2xx response.

Why it matters

Before an agent recommends a business or sends a user to it, it looks for evidence that a real organization is behind the site. Without an About page or contact details it has no way to confirm who you are. Each page is worth 1 point.

How to fix it

  1. Create /about with the company name, what it does and where it is based.
  2. Create /contact with an email address, and a phone number or postal address if you have one.
  3. Link both from the homepage header or footer as plain <a href> links.
  4. Make sure both return 200, not a redirect to the homepage.

How to verify

Run curl -s -o /dev/null -w "%{http_code}" https://example.com/about and the same for /contact.
